a whole host of noob questions that google wont answer

Post by debay777 »

I am brand spanking new to multiwii and have alllll the noob questions. I would appreciate direct answers but if your just plain tired of saying it all over again I understand. just link me to the thread/wiki/youtube video I need to see.

First of all, what is the major difference between a RTFQ Flip board and the same brand Multiwii Pro board? Can they be upgraded the same way all the way to FPV?

Ive been reading a lot about multiwii and I have seen that having a 3 position switch on the TX makes switching between flight modes easier but that with the right receiver you can use 2 individual 2 position switches to accomplish this. I have the ORX T6 which only has the 2 position switch. Enter PPM/PWM... or at least I thnk so..... I use ORX receivers. Is PPM/PWM an issue? how do I wire said RX to a RTFQ Multiwii Pro 2 board using the 2 swtiches and how is that configured in the multiwii software? As I said, Ive been reading and watching lots of videos so Im familiar with the PC software. Ive been playing a PC video game that runs third party mods. Those mods use a very similar language to what multiwii seems to use so even though I have not idea what all the individual characters mean, im familiar with editing strings of code to change settings.

I know I have more questions, but right now my brain is fried.....

First, did you read and then study Whitespy's RTF WIKI?
http://witespyquad.gostorego.com/videos.html

This covers most of what you need to know in one place.

RTFQ Flip boards come in many varieties. Some are code wise exactly the some as some other MW board. You need to look at which processor and which sensors are used on these boards.

The TX switches are connected to AUX Channels in the transmitter. First step to to setup your TX to have these switches assigned to the AUX channels. Then setting up the proper Center and End Point values. Next is to connect the RX channel outputs to AUX inputs on the FC and then in the MultiWiiConfig.exe gui setup MW to use these AUX channels for flight mode switching. This is explained in the RTF WIKI.
Never used a Orange radio so can not answer questions on it.

Since my post I have read a lot. I can't seem to determine if the Flip has on board baro and magnometer. But then I've looked at so many boards in the last 24 hrs I'll have to go back one more time.

Is multiwii setup to use 2 switches to control 3 flight modes?

No one anywhere seems to have posted any experience with orx TX or rx.

I stand corrected. There is a Flip with baro/mag. But no GPS hookup so a deal breaker.
