Sneak preview of new WinGUI (Screenshots)

Post by EOSBandi »

Hi All,
I've been busy in the last couple of days, and even it's not finised yet (not ready to be released as Beta) I decided to share a preview of what I'm working on. Expected to enter into beta in early March (Source code will be available at the same time). Stay tuned.

Updated screenshots are here : viewtopic.php?f=8&t=1172&p=8765#p8765

Great Job.

Way back when Alex first brought us the WiiConf GUI, I had asked him if he could add the guages or at least the Artificial Horizon, but never got an answer.

This looks to be a wonderful App. Next will be to get it to run wirelessly on telemetry so we have a GCS something like the ArduCopter people do.

Keep it up!!!!!!

Very cool GUI,
but I think using the Copter Icon Alex uses in the old GUI is a better Idea, so we can directly see which configuration of copter is selected, and the movements are easy to see without being a pilot.

What do you guys think. If I am alone with my opinion I will be silent ;-)

Is a function to save and restore Parameter sets!?

Would be sooo cool.

And beeing compatible to older Multiwii versions would be a charm (Like the android tool)

Nils

ps.: Nevertheless: FANTASTIC WORK MAN!!

looks great! If you make it open source I can help with coding. Is it WPF or win Forms?

No disrespect but I like the new and can read the copter configuration is a small, tiny little box. ;)

I also like the old, so please don't take this wrongly, but The new is really nice. Just what I dreamt about.

nice! lets hope its more stable then the processing GUI. I've had a heck of a time with the config GUI since like 1.2. Have tried on about 3 or 4 different Windows PC's and it will crash if you look at the FC the wrong way.

Just been looking at the new aeroquad config package, it would be great if you could implement the bit where they can upload the code to the quad using the same package - saves swapping between the two.

Hi Guys!
Thank you all the encouraging words, this really energizes me and gives me the good feeling that needed for my work. I’m working on this GUI as much as I can.
When the program reaches a level of completion where it runs outside of the dev environment with at least the same functionality that the current MultiWiiConf has, I’ll release it to beta alongside with the source code.
Answering the questions:
It’s coded in C# and using Forms.
All indicators are implemented as user controls, so it’s easy to rearrange or reuse.
The initial release will be 100% compatible with current MultiWii dev version. (Except the inflight data logging, which needs dataflash hardware and modified MW code, this will be released at the same time.)
FlightDeck tab with HUD will be there for telemetry.
Thanks,
EOSBandi

Question, I have all three platforms, Windows, MAC and Linux, so it is not a problem for me, but will this version be available on all three?

The GUI is developed on Windows using .NET. If you want to screw around on other less relevant platforms to get it running under emulators or similar, feel free. .NET/C# is Windows-only unless you count aborted attempts at imitation such as Mono etc.

Because it's NET it should run under Linux with MONO. Maybe for Mac a Mono framework exists?!

looks pretty good.

i miss the rc_rate & rc_expo function.
is it possible to arrange the pid boxes in the same way as with the genuine gui?
it would look more clear in my opinion. what do u think about?
a copter symbol would also be nice to see which config is loaded.

example.

Quick Update:
I'm progressing better that expected. GUI design is pretty much freezed now, but still hunting some bugs.
To keep you updated (and excited :D ) I'm attaching some new screenshots.

All controls are in place now and functioning. Settings Load and Save also working and uses a human readable xml format.
At RC Control Settings tab you can set and test your aux options with live rc input before saving it to the FC.
Also added (as requested by some of you) a video capture tab, where you can select any VfW compatibile video source and capture it using ffmpeg codecs.
VideoCaptue could have a simple OSD if needed, but I don't really see any use it (however, if someone can convince me, then I can put it there).
Again, Thanks for the feedback and support. I hope you can test it within two weeks.

Hi, I can't wait to see the .NET GUI.
I use a modified MultiWii GUI for my open source NeXtcopter and OpenAero projects but many people have trouble getting it going and Processing is a huge pain to work with.
I will definitely migrate those projects to this as soon as the source is available. Amazing work!

Hi,
I found one issue:

When I am connected to the FC and try to open the GUI settings page i got a message that this is not possible - OK.
But when I am not connected, and open that page and then hit connect, I can change the settings there.

Is this OKAY?

I did not find anything else.
The look and feel is brilliant!

I will test some more tonight.

ps.: like the parasaving into file ;-)
