Totally new to MultiWii

Post by Firefox »

I'm just getting interested in multicopters and I do have a very basic question.

Do the Warthox and/or Paris units act as flight control boards or is another board needed, such as the KK Multicopter ?

thanks

Are there any documentation or links for the assembly and hook up of the Warthox and/or Paris boards ?

thanks

Hi,

The warthox/alex board is only an adapter board. You need a arduino pro mini 328 5v board and a wii motion +.

Look at multiwii.com

Hi All,
Hope this is the best thread to get some advice on. If not will try another one.
I have a quadrino board and I am trying to configure it using the Multiwii GUI both version 1.7 and 1.8 patch. The problem is the GUI does not seem to "talk" to the board. The USB drivers are correct and installed and un installed twice the USB cable has been proved on another device and is good and the Rx light on the quadrino flashes. However all the data displayed on the GUI screen with the exception of the com port number, I can change that and the start and stop buttons they start and stop the Rx light on the board flashing, is static and I am no able to change it. The GUI does not display the sensor data from the board either. The status light on the board flashes at about 1 Hz this may or may not be relevant. The PWR LED is on.
I have tried to get answers from the supplier but so far no replies. Any suggestions gladly accepted.

Regards

John

Before you can configure with the GUI, you have to bring the Multiwii software into the Arduino.

How did that work?

Besides, what components are you using?

Hi Both,
Thanks for answers First I have Java 6 update 29 the Java update site tells me this is the latest. Second, sorry kali123 don't understand what is "bring the Multiwii software to the Arduino". The hardware I am using is Quadrino Pro with Baro, Gyro, Accelerometers and Magnetometer the board was supplied by Witespy and is marked declspec.com. Arduino Copmpatable with 10-DOF IMU. I have also tried the all 3 versions of Multiwii GUI available on the Multiwii web site, results are same for all 3.

I think Kalle means you need to upload the sketch to the Arduino using the arduino-0022 software. http://www.arduino.cc/en/Main/software. Once you have the sketch uploaded then you can use the GUI to see what it is doing. Minimum set up to be able to see anything working in GU is Arduino, WMP and esc's not sure if you need motors connected, if you do, not with props to start with.

Exactly. It is not clear from the posting, that the sketch has been uploaded to the arduino board.

hey Mac9,

to let you know, you have to use the same firmware version (on your arduino or compatible) as GUI Version to have succsess. (Does not explain error with your COM port)

a hint:
I do not know the board you posted but If its similar to Paris V3 you need to kill 5v pin of USB (serial port) and power up your copter by akku (ESC or standalone BEC), to get response from your sensors. (Do not connect Motors.)

Sorry maybe i didn´t get it
However all the data displayed on the GUI screen with the exception of the com port number, I can change that

What are you able to change?

To get some further info about your problem related to the GUI:
What kind of programmer do you use?
What is your OS?
Does your system show a COM Port related to the programmer in device manager?
Do you have access with arduino software?
