Connecting Ublox GPS to Multiwii SE board

Post by i3dm »

Hello guys,

i bought this board:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/280919886379?ss ... 1497.l2648

This GPS:
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/1PC-Ublox-NE ... OU:US:3160

and this TTL->I2C converter:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/380693260075?ss ... 1497.l2648

This is a 43$ combo with RTH - so its pretty cool !
So i can see that the GPS outputs TTL, and the board has a TTL input, so why use the converter to I2C and then connect to the board's I2C port?

is it possible to connect the GPS directly to the TTL input of the MWii SE board?
If not, can you please advise why?

Also, the Ublox Neo-6M has an I2C port, so why not re-wire it and use that directly to the MWii SE board?

thanks.

to answer your why question, since you bought all 3 components, why would you not use the ttl->i2c?
it is best to use the converter. you will not be able to view the gps while connected to multiwii conf since the 328 only has one serial port.
the i2c on the gps is only for connecting to the eeprom.
