MultiWii on a KK Board?

Post by linuxslate »

Is it possible to load MultiWii (2.2), on an original KK board?

I'm not talking about interfacing the two, or anything. I want to completely wipe the firmware (Bootloader, too, if necessary) and making it MultiWii board.

Should be the same hardware (It is an atmel chip isn't it?) and I am sure MultiWii will support whatever accels are on it.

The reason I am asking is that I plan on building a tri-copter. My plan was to use a NanoWii from HK, but then I saw this kit:

http://dx.com/p/x525-4-quadcopter-4-mot ... ack-242552

I plan to buy that, and just use it as parts. (The actual body of the tri is going to be plywood & aluminum) When you consider all of the small parts and connectors, and the fact that for a tri, I'll have a spare motor and ESC, it looks like a pretty good deal. (I already have a servo) (I'll be using smaller props on my tri, but the props it comes with are what I use on my Quad. The motors are the same too.)

At any rate, it comes with a KK board. I can either use the KK board as-is, or still buy the NanoWii, but if I could just make that board into a MultiWii controller, I'd save some money, and still have a MultiWii Tri-copter.

Edit: I know the pots and stuff on the KK board won't work. I don't care. I have a FTDI adapter.

I personally do not know but does the KK board still uses an analog gyro and ACC?

Original KK board uses analog gyro and has no ACC. KK2.0 uses digital gyro and acc.

Interesting, Thank you.

I would assume, providing the hardware addresses are the same, it would be possible however here is the big BUT? Why when there is hardware for the MWC as cheap as 15 bucks?

Thanks for the info. I guess I'll give the KK board to someone at the flying field.

I found essentially the same kit even cheaper on eBay, and the same eBay store is selling a decent, small MultiWii board with on-board USB, and a compass, so I'll just get that.
