Add brushless gimbal code to multiwii?

Can multiwii do brushless motor camera gimbal movments instead of just servo movements?

And how do you solve the problem of the BL motor position feedback without attaching the mwii to the gimbal ?? A potentiometer - like in the servos?

By doing exactly that: attaching the board to the gimbal ;)

So I take it that MultiWii can't do this yet?

MultiWii has a #defined option for being used as just a gimbal controller, but that still only moves servos and not a brushless motor, correct?

Ah, Ok, i see what you want. It shouldn't be too much hassle once you have flashed some ESC with a special FW for the BLG motors. Perhaps you should ask OlliW, he has done a lot of work in this area: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1858164 .
Maybe "ronco" from flyduino has some FW for his ESC as well.
