My first quad flew today! 1811-2000 motors, 6a turnigy esc, 5x3 props,cf frame cut from hockey stick. Arduino pro mini, wm+ and nunchuck original. Using 6ch flysky receiver that has ppm out on the bind port. It took me a week of playing around to get the pids right. It flys beautiful with the nunchuck on. Even outside in the wind. No oscillations.
It weighs 137g without battery. I used super velcro to attach everything and my motors are tied down with phone wire!

I have just bought a FlySky 9 channel Tx, and one of those 6ch receivers for my next quad build. I wasn't aware of the PPM output on the receiver (i saw the price and hit buy before my wallet knew what was going on), as I understand it that means you can connect receiver to arduino with a single signal wire which sounds like it will make my life slightly easier. Can you explain how to connect the receiver to the arduino? and are there any options in the multiwii code i have to change?

Cheers,
Bruce

Edit: I figured it out in the end, as you say there is PPM out on the bind channel, all I had to do was connect the signal line on the bind to digital pin 2.

im very curious about the hockey stick frame... isn't that kinda heavy?? May have to look into this. Where the heck i'd find a hockey stick in Cali I have no idea.

the hockey sticks i use to build my quads are carbon fiber and very lightweight. i get broken sticks that are worth $400 new! very hard to cut, i use a dremel with a cut off disc to cut them in half and drill holes to lighten them up further. lighter than aluminum and they never bend. i also have carbon fiber/fiber glass composite sticks but they are heavier but easier to cut and still strong. find a stick that is pure carbon fiber and you can build a couple of frames with it. i use hobbyking 1mm cf sheets to secure the frame together

pretty cool build. question - id like to know how you setup the ppm with the radio? how did you configure it? I have the same radio.

On the radio one of the "channels" is labelled bind. The signal pin for that channel must be connected to digital pin 2 on the arduino, positive to +5v and ground to gnd. You may have to play around with the #define line relating to this in the multiwii code to get the channels mapped correctly.

This works great on my setup.

I took my quads camping for a week. Flying thru the bush is fun on v1.8! I have LEVEL_PDF enabled. Baro on the quad rises 3m then it falls to ground. The mini quad has Paris 3.0 board on it and bigger quad has DIYDrones apm.
