running MW on KK

Post by aster94 »

hello,

i know that a few people made MW compile and run on the KK boards (m644pa running at 20Mhz)
examples:
from smith http://m-rotor.com/page/?p=560 and http://www.rctech.net/forum/rc-flight/873768-see-kk-2-1-modified-run-multiwii-2-4-modified.html
e_lm_70 https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?2157987-KK2-x-does-MultiWii-2-3-with-GPS-PH-RTH-in-style
and maybe also this one, i am not sure i didn't check it's code: https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?1526268-NeXtcopterPlus-open-source-release-for-KK-and-KK-boards
maybe there are other and i don't know them

someone of them is active in this forum? i think that these mod are very interesting since they use MW firmware which (in my opinion) is better than KK on an hardware which is better of the MW boards
what do you think? what about using pieces of these codes and make a version for the kk boards?

I am quite sure big part of the registers between m2560 and m644 are completely exchangable. The only problem could be with the "time function" since it runs at 20mhz but we could change the crystal if we can t do it in software

Another reason to choose a kk board instead of one with m2560: price

Mw board is around 30€/$ not less
Kk board is around 14€/$
The kk mini (like the newest fc is 36x36) is at 18

I'm not against it but if MultiWii ever did spring back to life, I'm not sure adding yet another board to its long list of supported boards would help. Most of the boards no longer exist or aren't Arduino programmer friendly enough that they were never really used by many. I don't think the KK is is Arduino programmer friendly either. From what I read a long time ago from the original KK developer, he looked at MultiWii and already implimented a lot of it into the KK code when he saw the MultiWii flying good. It'll be a miracle if the Multiwii development ever starts up on a 328p promini again, let alone a new board port.
