SW V2.1 cannot read PID-Settings from GUI

Post by jojoschneider »

I´m currently using V1.9 which works pretty good.
Tried to move to V2.1 but i´m not successfull in readign PID- or changing PID-settings.
My collegue Maxi has the same problem on an other computer.
I´m using a netbook from acer, type EeePC with windows7 starter.
Can anyone give me a help?

Everything works, i can observe gyrodata changing when turning the copter, i can see the cycletime running, i can see values from my transmitter changing. But i don´t get PID-Data. Same behavior on two systems.
Necessarry to send scrrenshot?

You can try clear eeprom. Some data may be damaged.

Tried to push the RESET on the GUI in the PID-Window, but nothing happens.
Everything seems to work on the GUI but the functions (buttons) in the PID-Window.
On GUI from V1.9 i get an acoustic feedback from the FC when i push the write-button on the PID-Window.
But form GUI V2.1 i get no acoustic feedback.

Tried the RESET in the PID-Window on GUI form V2.1, nothing happens.
How to clear EEPROM?

Yes, i select the comport, i click start, i can see the looptimer runnig, this is about 1600 with an ITG3200. I can observe the values from my transmitter changing correctly in the GUI when i move the
sticks, i can observe the graph from the gyro-axis and so on. But i can´t read the PID-values from the copter.
The READ-button has a colour about dark blue, when i click it, it changes the colour to a light blue, so there is optically a response from the GUI.
The valus in the PID-window remain all at zero.
I used another monitor which i can connect to the netbook,in case the resokution might be a problem, without success.

So, V1.9 is running and i´m quite satisfied with that function of V1.9.
I changed back to V1.9 and will keep that.

Thanks a lot for your advetisement.

i have to wonder what else is enabled in 2.1 that is different than 1.9, or what he needs to enable in 2.1 that is auto enabled in 1.9.

seems to me that something is different between the two configurations that is causing a traffic jam, of sorts.

remeber i mentioned in the first post that this is the same on antoher machine from my collegue Maxi.
So i don´t think that this is a problem from my netbook. I have installed windows7 starter and i use from the GUI-folder
the 32-bit-version, as i do from V1.9.
Thank´s again for your assistance, i´ll follow the conversation and if therese a solution or a proposal, i´ll try again
to move to V2.1.

Hello Jürgen,

I had the same problem with the version 1.9 to 2.1 move.
In order to clear the EEPROM you have to load Arduino sketch /Example(Beispiele)/EEPROM/eeprom_clear,
select the right board and serial port and upload it to the MultiWii control.
After clearing the EEPROM the Arduino LED will lit.
Then upload the MultiWii program version 2.1.

Next start the GUI, connect to the board and click on START.
In my case it loads the default parameters, I hope it helps also in your case.

I got it running now, not immediately, but after some trials.
First i use now Arduino 1.0.1, before i used Arduino 1.0.
But the success came with activating additionally the BMA180 as ACC.
Before i used only ITG3200 as Gyro.
Now i can read, change and set PID-Values and so on. But not imediately after start.
I have to do a RESET or a WRITE or several READs. The READ does not always work, i have to click
around in the field of READ. Some areas of READ produce a highlighting of READ, bot not the whole
READ-area.
Going now to test in flight what 2.1 will do with me now.

Something is wrong with V2.1 in reading/writing PID-Values and setup-Values and i do not have a good feeling with that.

V2.1 is interesting for me, because it supports the IMU6050. I´ve made me own PCB with just only an
ITG3200 and i would like to test the IMU6050. I don´t really need an ACC, but im keen on trying
if the IMU6050 works and how the stabilisation is.

Probably someone is interested in solving the problem on V2.1?

Jürgen
