Please excuse this question if it has been asked before or it seems dumb but why the new WiiCopter Protocol when there is MAVLink?

Because there'd be too much shit to #ifdef on a tarduino pro mini.
And the second reason is that qgroundcontrol is fucking HIDEOUS.
Worse than multwiiconf, by far.

Thank you, there are a number of groundcontrols from what I can tell. Of course, I have not tried any, just reading over the documentation.
