Hi what do you think about using BlinkM.
I don't like Phantom like it;s flying but one think I've liked - it's led.
I've seen LedRing, but for me it's too big. I think that using BlinkM should be good alternative.

Ready modules can be purchased here:
https://www.sparkfun.com/products/8579

documentation for blinkM
http://thingm.com/fileadmin/thingm/down ... asheet.pdf

but it's easy to made, and it will be much more cheaper:

and alternative firmware:

I like the idea as well. It could be used to indicate a GPS lock before flight and also other flight modes during flight.
I hope someone picks up the idea and runs with it maybe with open source hardware instead of the BlinkM (yes I'm cheap)

It should not be a difficult task as it could use very simmilar program chunk as LED Ring which is already in main branch. Could someone just modify this or direct how it should be modified to work with BlinkM ?

Get a Pilotlamp,
it is fully integrated and has a superloud buzzer.

BlinkM is ok, but I'm thinking these instead;

Would require a dedicated AVR, or some code in MultiWii to support the WS2812 protocol, but you could do so much with these.
