microSD Shield

Post by d0nar »

hi,

I don´t know if it is already in work, but what about integrate a microSD board like this one?
I got that Idea in my mind when I remembered that EEPROM have limited write cycles...
It would be great to flash only a microSD read/write programm to the arduino and the multiwii software would storaged precompiled on the microSD and the LCD conf too

Sorry for my bad german school English...

This isn't possible since AVRs run their software from flash. They can't run code in RAM and wouldn't have enough to load anything serious, anyway.

Also it's not necessary. The program is stored in Flash memory which is guaranteed to survive 10.000 read-write-cycles. Even if you would reprogram your AVR ten times every day, it would still survive at least three years. This seems quite acceptable for a chip costing around 3 Euros.
