MultiWiiConf UI for Android Tablet PC

Post by mahowik »

Hi all,

I'm going to buy some kind of tablet PC based on Android...

So does it possible to compile our MultiWiiConf UI app for Android Tablet PC (e.g. for Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1)?

http://wiki.processing.org/w/Android

P.s I know that we have special UI app for Android phones BUT it would be nice to have full MultiWiiConf UI app! ;)

thx-
Alex

I am in for this as well real soon now.
Yes, the serial stuff will have to be replaced by bluetooth calls.
The GL graphics part (animated copter graphics) probably will have to go.
And the inputs (objects/methods) need to be changed somewhat.
I have not done it yet, but imho it is a worthwhile task.

Hi,
I'm an Android developer (gbmsoftware.com - here is my app) and big fan MWC. I had some plans to do this for Android phones (I know current configurators, but all miss stick view) and for tablets since I have my own Iconia A500, and and I think maybe normal ftdi cable connection should be possible for rooted user but how many people are interested in?

Regards,
Marcin.

Sounds cool - I have no tablet yet but will order one pretty soon.

about flying over bluetooth (think parrot drone)

It is pretty useless as BT only has 10 or 100 meters range depending on class.

But a GUI would be awesome even if it lacks the GL-part (can this figure be solved in other ways?)

Like using a PNG image and tilt/shift it?

OK, I will finish some other things, and will start to code it in next week. I think GL parts is possible to but I think the most important is code other things like all fields, bars, sensor chart etc.

Cheers,
Marcin.

Thanks a lot! Yes for development (debugging of new modes, testing the code changes) the GL part doesn't necessary in general, but charts, bars, fileds would be very usefull!

thx-
Alex

Too bad the WiiCopter firmware doesn't support WiFi. Hmmm.

These devices are becoming very cheap.

you may be right. The tablets with BT may be in a different price category. I am in no way an expert on this.
anyway, all wifi usage I know of (for data transmission) does only provide IP (layer 2) as a lowest level. That is probably not what we want (or what arduino could do well).

BT is quite common in even the lesser dollar tablets, i did a lot of research before buying mine right before Christmas.

I'm in for testing, I already have a Bluesky Bluetooth module tested with Android Multiwii configuration tool on a Tegra 2 tablet, trouble is everytime I try to connect with my Archos G80 (TI 4460) It crashes out.
Graphical orientation display and PWM in out / would be great plus it opens the door for GPS maps etc in the future

maybe in the meantime I can interest you to test this generic config/setup solution? It should work with your hardware easily. No fancy graphics, but it is free. Read here http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showpost ... stcount=10

Spoke too soon, my bluetooth module seems to have failed, vibration in flight might have shorted it across a shock mount nut.

If I can resurrect it I'll let you know!

Hi !

I'm planning to create GUI for Android 2.3 with graphs (as i couldn't find info about existing project - is it opensource etc. or can i add graphs to it)
Reading data from MultiWii is very simple. Processing is not required at all for some simple visualizations even 3D.
It can work with other Androids too.
