magnetic compass deviation PLZ HELP.......

Post by s15mpo »

Hi to all!! Ok so I will do my best here to make this brief!
My mag gui read out is altering as much as 90 degrees with throttle input! I have read about as much as I can over the last week or so on the issue and all fingers are pointing to MU metal...... but all info is abit vague i.e. No dimensions or thickness of the material does it require connecting to a negative terminal the best positions for it

Surely I am not alone on this but I have tried all I can do from a diy aspect I have relocated my fc to the top deck lowered the dis board to approx 10mm bellow bottom deck all esc are on no more than 35mm or high current cables all battery cables are tied together canmbles I can twist I have , made shields to protect board from motors.... covered esc and HC cables in a steel braid .... made a cowle for the battery and made plates for bellow the board all from galvanised steel maybe 1mm thick all which I have tried earthed and not earthed at 1 end only all having very little effect on the mag readings I have had this sodding quad for over 3 years and never once flown using gps or mag nor baro it has probably done less than 1 hour in the air!! Every time I get close I end up taking three steps back!! : ( I have balanced motors and props and stable flight is awesome now in level mode the only mode I ever dare use haha
So a quick kit break down and some picture links to drop box
Dji f450
Hk 20a esc
D2822/1450 kV motors
5200 multistar 3s
MultiWii pro With built in mag baro ( the red one )
Mtk gps
Please ignore the state of the quad at the moment all due to this
problem
