UBLOX 7m - Fix problem with multiwii 2.4

Post by cpf2016 »

Hi guys,
I have recently assembled a quadcopter with CRIUS AIO PRO and Multiwii on it. Everything is fine and the quadcopter flies well without problems.
Yesterday I tried to make the GPS working: I connected the TX and RX to serial port 2 and I took the power from the FTDI port (as described on the online PDF). After modify the Multiwii code with serial port number 2 and decommenting UBLOX line and also setting the magnetic declination according to my location I have this problem:

When I connect the battery, the blue led on the GPS blink one time only, then after the Multiwii boot up also the led named B (on CRIUS control board) start to blink normally as should be when is trying to fix GPS. But on the other hand the led on the GPS doesn't blink at all (also after 10/15 minutes) and also the Multiwii does not show that we have fixed GPS signal.

I have no idea how to solve this problem, any hints?

Did you connect the TX on the GPS unit to the RX on the FC? The RX to the TX?
Did you uncomment the waypoint nav statement in the 2.4 config.h?

Glad to have been able to help.....if I did.

I'm not doing this anymore. Seems like the person who posed the original question disappeared and never even read the reply.
Happens too much here for me to waste my time trying to help anymore.

I'm just not leaving any more lengthy replies. Most of the time doing that is wasted.

I'm so disappointed with the whole RC forums. It's so hard to get any help for a 2-3 years old stuff.
BTW, I also can't understand why are people so ungrateful...

The people who act ungrateful are the ones who can't figure anything out even with explicit instructions provided by those trying to help. They shouldn't be trying to build one of these to begin with. They tend to turn on the person who is trying to help them and blame everything on the helper. I personally have had people act like I was getting paid by them to help. They can all kiss my ass and I hope they all give up.

I'm building 450 quad with Multiwii aio v2 with ublox Neo7m GPS, I have made all the connection with U-center get 3D GPS very rare, I have the Neo 7m in my balcony and get 3D lock with U-center, but when I connect the same with Multiwii aiov2, I dont get the GPS_fix in green, and Latitude and Longitude details are missing but the compass blinks and GPS is on green and not able to activate the GPS hold and GPS home. Can some one please help.

I have enabled the GPS code in Multiwii board, connected Multwii serial 2 TX and RX to GPS RX and TX, GRD to ACC GROUND and +5v from I2C PWR, both I2C SDA and SCL also connected. referred the connection from https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CAvZVWj-Wu8

I have Multiwii 2.3... and Brate set to 38400..

Please Help....

Not sure but don't you need to also change the protocol on your ublox from NMEA to UBLOX binary?

And to what baud rate is set gps? It should work on 56000. When you said that you set the baud rate... Where? In sketch for serial port or in u-center for gps?
Oh, also flash MW 2.4 on board. I think that I read somewhere that in 2.3 gps is not fully supported...
There's some useful info: MultiWii • View topic - 2.4 is finally here :)
