GPS-hold “circling” effect...

Post by alll »

Hi,
What explains the “circling” effect while tuning GPS position hold PID’s. (quad starts to make larger and larger clockwise circles around the pos –hold position)
Is it possible that it comes from the vector calculations where the calculated projections are distributed on a “circle”…

I would suspect the compass accuracy due to wrong declination or current EM problem.
Let's say the GPS calculation indicates the multi should go toward the north and the compass has 10 deg difference.
=> the multi would not exactly reach its destination and some "circling" will occur.

Yes, i suspected the mag, power wires + esc's are close to the compass!
Thanks for clear explanation Alex,

PS: when do you "freeze" the development for release 2.3? :?:
