Problem: Sensor spikes when battery is connected (solved)

Post by Stephan Oldenburg »

Hi,

when I connect the battery, I have every few secondes heavy spikes in the sensors readings and after 30 sek.to 3 min. the FC crashes.

If I only power the FC via the FTDI everything is fine. The FC is a Crius SE V2.0 and already worked very good in a quadrocopter and is now buid into a hexacopter.

Only one BEC is for the FC power (D5). All other BECs (plus and minus) are disconnected.

Why I have those sensor spikes, when the battery is connected ???

Thanks,
Stephan

I would try using another ESCs’ BEC to rule out the BEC your using now.
Three other things I see:
1: MAG Z axis should positive while at rest,
2: You need to be able to toggle the BARO on and off while flying, now you always have it on and it will fight you as you try to fly.
3: MAG must be active when using the GPS functions RTH,Hold,HF.
It also looks like you need to spend time and center all your RX inputs with your TX subtrim. Now you are inputting pitch, roll and yaw all at the same time. Equalize your end points while you are at it. It will fly much better afterwards.
Good Luck.

Thanks for your answer.

I tried a second BEC. With the same result.

I think this comes from the uncalibrated mag. I upladed a 100-times the sketch and dont't want to calibrate the mag every time.

Yes you're right. I'll change it before flight.

Why I need MAG for GPS Position Hold?

The RX inputs are not in center, because the subtrim was not centered. Its not realy an issue. I don't fly wild manuevers. When the copter stays stable in one point it's fine for me.

Any other ideas, why the FC crashes? Software or Hardware?
