Sonar, does it work, how do I tell ?

Hi all,

So I have a GPS and a SR04 sonar module attached to my gps-i2c-nav board. It's running r62 of the code. Sonar module is ticking away, and is producing sensible waveforms on my scope. GPS data is coming through. I have tweaked the Multiwii V2.2 code on my Crius V1 board to read the sonar data via the gps-i2c-nav board. Mods to the code were found here https://github.com/luggi/multiwii-firmw ... 06ab7db57f

Question is how do I tell in MultiWiiConf if the sonar is working or not ?

Also with respect to flying the thing how does the sonar input integrate with the baro sensors height estimation ?

Thanks.
Cam.

Only good for turning on landing lights then ?

EDIT: I'll answer my own question: The centimetre value shows up in debug[2] in MultiWiiConf, and sure enough from looking at the code all it does with sonarAlt is switch landing lights on or off.

Yup I got that, it also appears any other type of sonar does very little also. Landing lights from best I can tell. No problem here, just wanted to check I wasn't missing something.

If I could make dreams come true, this is what I would like to work on, that being Obstacle Avoidance, not so much auto-landing. Given the current media climate and fear mongering, it would be nice to have a copter that knows how to avoid objects.

Saw that vids a few years ago, think it was responsible for kicking me off with multicopters. Very good.
