BMP085 altitude sensor

Post by BlueAngel »

Hi,

I want to add to my Wii Quadro Copter the BMP085(http://www.sparkfun.com/products/9694) sensor with a LLC (http://www.sparkfun.com/products/8745).
I have already the original WiiM+ and a BMA020.
So connecting these things together should work "normally" without problems, but i read this here:
http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showpost ... ount=11455

Are there already working combinations with the following combination:
WiM+ powered by 5,0V from D12
BMA020 powered by 5,0V from D12
BMP085+LLC powered by 5,0V from D12

How good is "altitude hold" working now?
because in the change.txt:
BARO is still not working very well with huge amplitude (note it's a code issue, not a baro component issue)

thx
Stefan

It's still not perfect, but it's better since 1.prebis7.

hye
I've just tried this sensor this afternoon, I've used multiwii1.7pre modified by jlnaudin and modified once's more by me to be used with a normal 5 x ppm signal.
the used hardware is : fr3d-shield (my own shield with integrated sda & scl llc and a 3.3v low drop regulator) you can find informations @ http://fr3d.kazeo.com only in french for this time... :?

with this solution every i2c device send & receive signal @ 3.3v and arduino send & receive signal @ 5v bmp085 is not a "5v friend".

bmp085 is working well but quadricopter rise and down on +/-2 meters :|

@Alex:
thanks i will order one and try.

@fr3d:
i have read that too, anywhere in the big rcgroups thread, that everything works with 3,3V.
Thats the solution i have to use, if the 5V way will not function.
I have the Jussi shield and so there is too a 3,3V low drop voltage regulator.

+-2 meters are okay for the beginning.
It should be just another safety feature for my FPV quad.

i use this bmp085 breakout with 5V from D12 http://www.lipoly.de/index.php?main_pag ... _id=161167

( "bad" 1.6B ) itg3205 clone used as itg3200 + ELV bma020 breakout, powered via D12 too .

until now i didnt need 3,3v ;)

thx, thats also a possibility.
I have already seen this sensor at lipoly.de, but the normal sensor + LLC is cheaper and should work too. :-)
anyway, thanks.
I will look, what i will take.

I have a bmp085 ready to be connected to my "Jussi-boards"

After yesterdays crash I'm going to redesign a few things - nothing major, only minor adjustments
