Flyduino 'timeout' problem with Arduino 1.0

Hi all

Just getting back into my Hexacopter project after it lay dormant for 6 months ... I've bought a FFIMU v0.4 and have downloaded the latest Arduino software to install the MultiWii 2.0 pre-release version 4 code onto my Flyduino, but I now get the following error each time it tries to upload the new code:

avrdude: stk500v2_ReceiveMessage(): timeout

Does anyone know what this means or what I can do to get around it?

I'm using a Flyduino (Arduino Mega 2560 as the board, /dev/tty.usbserial-A700eLli as the port, I've tried /dev/cu... as well), Sparkfun FTDI adaptor, MultiWii 2.0 pre-release 4, and Arduino 1.0 software (as the MultiWii code won't run on anything less than Arduino 1.0 apparently). The Arduino software gives a readout of the filesize, the green status LED on the Flyduino flashes a few times (rebooting I assume), and then the error message comes up.

PS. I've read that it might be a problem with my FTDI adaptor ... I have access to one of these:

Hi again!

I've just tried with the new FTDI cable, and the same thing happens. I've also tried the FTDI cable with Arduino 0022 using the v1.8 software that's already loaded onto the Flyduino, and I get the same error! :confused:

Has something died on the Flyduino between the last time I flew it in August 2011 and now?

It works!! I just had to change the board type in the Arduino to a Mega 1280!

Now I can get on with the build of the hexacopter again! ... although first I need some sleep

I'm trying to build a stable hexa platform with a stabilized gimbal, but I don't feel like buying a shield or a fly/seeduino.

Instead, I've got a spare arduino 2560 r3.

Could you confirm your setup? You say You are using flyiduino... I don't get it. So you have this? Or this?
