MW USB no longer communicating

Post by alyeomans »

Hi All
This is my first post here.

I have a Multiwii pro 2.0 from HK which I have not yet had in the air. I initially had troubles with flipping and sensor orientation which I think I have resolved in the code which is when the USB stopped responding.

This board did connect and communicate very well on 3 PC's by the USB cable - Now it does not! The usb/serial port no longer lists on the device manager no matter how many times i plug it in. I figure I have blown the IC (Silabs CP2102) which handles the usb comms. I could replace this IC but it seems very tricky considering the small footprint.

I understand that I can bypass the USB and connect to port 0 with TTL serial. For this I will get a 5v FTDI Basic Breakout board.

Finally my questions are:
1. Should I replace the IC, is this common?
2. For direct TTL communication with serial port 0, does that require the DTR pin to be held at 0v?

Many thanks

You need the DTR pin for program baord (connect DRT to RESET pin, you need a 4,7µf capacitor between DRT and Reset)
For communicate with Serial 0 1 or 2 you don't need anyting more.
My favorite board was damage after a crash, USB plug was brocken, I use a FTDI for continu use it.
There is no problem...

You can replace the chip but is not realy easy.
You need special Tools and if you break wire on board, it may be bricked and detroy...
