I have a problem with my MW SE, it seems my FTDI 5v pin is not delivering 5v when under load.
my serial port just beside it does fine, I am trying to use a wireless FTDI system from Ciseco UK.
when I use my usb ftdi cable adaptor its all fine cause it gets power from the USB port, but when I use this it cant get enuf power, it is 3.3 adn 5v tolerant.
but the voltage goes to less than 2.5 when this is connected.
I tried useing jumper wires to get the power from the UART and all other connectins from the FTDI and that did work good.
I thought it was a cold solder joint on the 5v pin, so I resoldered it, no joy. I am wondering if the FTDI on these is intentionally not a V supply.
any circut guru's know if I could or should just run a jumper wire from the UART power G and 5v pins over to fix the issue?
HK MW SE FTDI 5v pin
Re: HK MW SE FTDI 5v pin
ok, no idea why the 5v pin was failing, I decided to risk it and ran a jumper wire on the back of the MW to the UART 5v pin.
in theory they would be the same 5v rail anyhow so where ever the circut trace was haveing issues would be patched.
test #1 resulted in no smoke and the ERF powered up.
now I can reassemble and start some flight tests.
