... HK MultiWii SE 2.0 and BARO problem ...

Post by laasmooi »

Concerning the HK MultiWii SE 2.0 and MUltiWii 2.1 software. After a bit of flying around I noticed that it seems that the BARO is always switched on. While with the BARO switched off the quad is still jo-jo-ing a lot. Same as with BARO on, a lot of jo-jo and I do not notice any difference in flying behaviour (BARO on or off). In the GUI, I see BARO red (OFF) when switched off and green (ON) when switched on which is fine of course. I notice that, when I play with the throttle stick and BARO on, the BARO indicator in the GUI becomes red when I change the THR position and becomes green again. When moving the THR stick continuously, the indicator changes from green to red to green to red all the time. And every time again when I reposition the THR stick. It looks like (1 - with BARO on) the BARO is switched off and on again everytime you hit the THR stick and (2 - with BARO off) the BARO seems to be ON all the time (with a lot of jo-jo) and -while flying- the revving of the motors changes all the time by itself without moving the THR stick. Anyone?

ok, im not completely sure of this, but i believe this is fairly normal, the baro is only active when you have it enabled, AND the throttle is not moving. it cant hold altitude when yuo are adjusting throttle.

secondly, it sounds like you have a PID problem with your Baro, which barometer are you using?

post a screenshot of your GUI settings as well, make sure that the PIDs are showing.

Thanks tovrin,

The BARO is a BMP085 digital pressure sensor.

For those who might be interested: I brought -with the THR EXPO- the point where the quad is hoovering more to the mid-THR position.
Seems that solved the problem. BARO OFF and I can control the Quad very well now. BARO ON keeps the Quad in a vertical range of I would say some 2-3 meters. Question: How can I narrow that range?

how high are you when you get that? Ive heard the barometer is more accurate above a certain height.

what IMU and barometer are you using?

I am still on the ground :D . I would say that my quad is hanging at an alt of some 20 meters but also works fine at an alt of only 5 meters.
The BARO is a BMP085.
Sorry, I do not know what an IMU is.

ok, thats what i was looking for, i remember seeing a thread somewhere they talk about getting better altitude control using the mpu6050, there is a code change you need to make due to the Z axis output of the acc in the mpu6050. Ill see if i can find it
