MAVLink-OSD setup

Post by Leo »

The next little project was to equip my quadcopter with OSD functionalities.

For the hardware I chose for no particular reason the MAVLink-OSD hardware in version 2.0 and I'm running MultiWii OSD as firmware.

Here is the OSD board mounted on my quadcopter:

Searching the internet I came across the "5v mod" which made very much sense with my setup.

Below the board after the modifications:

I cut the trace (see arrow) to make sure to accidental short could occur.

The way I connected the boards is shown in this layout:

Many howto's suggest not to connect TX (OSD) to RX (FC) when having a transmitter connected to the same serial ports in parallel.
In my case I have to connect both TX and RX to the OSD board for it to function correctly.
Would this cause potential problems with the OSD board and 3DR module running on the same RX/TX connections?
Does anyone else have this same setup?
