nanowii board/sensor orientation limitation

I've been working with the nanowii for a while now, and it seems like you can rotate the board any way you like and change the sensor orientation in def.h as long as the board lies flat. When I try a orienting the board on it's side, any side, I am unable to get satisfactory results from the accelerometers. gyro seems to respond normally though. If anyone has been able to do this, please, send me your def.h for the nanowii. Thanks!
