32bit MW Centric ProMini replacement
32bit MW Centric ProMini replacement
This is based off of tc's schematic and he knows all about it.
STM32F103 board pin compatible w/ the 8bit MultiWii Pro Mini Shields and many sensor boards (sensors must be supported by baseflight). Figured there are probably thousands or tens of thousands of MulitWii Pro Mini Shields out there, this is a way to get 32bit MCUs into the masses. Runs baseflight code as you would expect and I assume the naze32 port of open pilot w/ the correct sensor board attached (mpu6050) and a bit of soldering onto the mcu (interrupts). USB via CP2102.
If people are interested in seeing this get out in the open so you can populate your 8bit MW shields w/ a 32bit MCU, respond here.
Brian
Here is a screenshot of it running a 10DOF (MPU3050, ADXL345, HMC5883L, BMP180) sensor board - proof of concept:

I really like this and I hope TC is watching. This is what the PEOPLE wants, at least, this people.
Are the shields available also?

you aren't people. you're a person. a single, lonely person.

Waiting just one second here, this is the same shield used for the 8bit Arduino?
Re: 32bit MW Centric ProMini...
yes, updated the first post to rectify that info

So this is to say, that if TC wanted to, all of those existing shield could be upgraded to 32bit too? Holy Molly!!!
Re: 32bit MW Centric ProMini...
Yep. There are a few limitations based on the shields being made for the 8bit ProMini (some of the shields that have voltage dividers would have to be changed because the current revision of the Mini32/ProMini32 has a voltage divider on it, going to the 'bat' pin that is used by the 8bit ProMini).

Re: 32bit ProMini replacement - same size, same pinout
How much cost this little Stm32 board ?
And from where it can be sourced ?

waiting to hear back from tc to see if he wants to do a run of them...

What would be the cost to send the job to an independent shop? there are lots of them around, some very cheap as I am sure you know already.
Re: 32bit ProMini replacement - same size, same pinout
it is based off of tc's schematic which is cc-by-nc-sa 3.0. plus i know if tc does this it will be done correctly and a clone will not come out before these , i consider tc a friend and wouldn't do that to him.

No Comment. Ha!!!

you are going to have to comment after that response, pm if necessary

tc = timecop ???
One more creation from TC
Re: 32bit ProMini replacement - same size, same pinout
i used tc's schematic since i like MW and have a lot of 8bit MW setups, and wanted to go 32bit as i have a first gen naze32, so i talked to tc to see if he would mind if i used his schematic and build a 32bit board that would fit in the 8bit shields. he was cool w/ it, so i made a promini replacement.

I stated from the onset, I felt it was a damn good idea and TC would benefit largely from the venture: viewtopic.php?f=22&t=3772#p38941
TC's sense of humor has limited his growth (acceptance of the 32bit) in my opinion. That right, everyone is entitled an opinion.
Re: 32bit MW Centric ProMini replacement
i hear you. I happen to get along with him very well, but different strokes for different folks . also, i guess i shouldn't really call it a promini replacement, more of a MW centric promini replacement as it based off the naze32 schematic.
