Disarming issues: Should I use separate BEC?

Post by vtpete »

Hi,
Yesterday I flew my quad around quite a bit.
On the bench in my house, I can arm, spin up and disarm fine.
When I go flying, I'm finding that after I land I can't disarm any longer. I'm trying to figure out why.

I read in another thread that it's possible my board isn't getting enough voltage and that I might need to use a dedicated BEC instead of powering from the ESC's BEC.

But, before I do, I wanted to know if there was a "feature" that prevents me from disarming under some circumstance. I'm using the 2.3 code with the Hobby King MultiWii Pro red board. I have all four linear ESCs plugged in fully. For example, is it possible that after I select "return to home", the board won't disarm?

If I *do* need to plug in a dedicated BEC (I have a couple), do I use 5 or 6 volts? And, stupid questions, but what pins on the board should I plug in my BEC to!?!? There seems to be several options and I'd prefer to limit trial and error errors.
