No lift at full throttle

Post by Voguna »

When i give full throttle, i dont get any lift. I tried to calibrate the esc, and had all motors on the MultiWII and then throttle up 100%, then hear two peeps, then throttle down, and unplug. Any ideas?

When i give it some elevator or aileron, trying to tip it or fly to right for example, the motor gives a lot more power than it does when i got full throttle. i seems like the throttle curve stop before it takes off. Should i check GUI settings? In that case, what should I change on? Any PID you recommend?

I remember it happened after i calibrated the ESCs. Did i calibrate wrong?

Can the props be installed incorrect? I have the text facing upwards.

Text up is correct.
But they can be mounted reverse rotation.
It maybe pushing down instead of up.

No, its a little wind going down, so it "push" up. When I try to fly forward, left,right and backwards, it get enough power to lift the two engine i use to fly backwards for example, to lift the quad on those two motors.

Maybe the cause is the soldering? maybe its something about my soldering?

If the props (or some of the props) are upside down you will get very little thrust (compared to what you should getting)

I have encountered some props which don't have any text on them

Try calibrating the ESCs by connecting each one directly to the rx throttle chan, one at a time, then hook everything back up.

Take the props off when calibrating.

Is the motor/prop combination reasonable?
You can have way too little power to fly it!

Power/Weight ratio should be >=2 to fly good.
2kg trust for a 1kg copter.

I use motors giving 1000 g thrust each, so that should give 4 kg thrust.

Is this for the the same quad as you the other thread where you had NOT set the centre point value to 1520 for your Futaba TX ?

Yes it is. But check this picture. I have set the values to 1520 +- 1-2, and i dont get any lift! :(

Here is what i have on it:

I start to wonder if the power board i am using is to bad, or the battery connector is to bad or something, because it kinda looks like it dont get enough power from the battery.. :( I use 3S battery, and i have tried 2200 mah, 1800 mah and 3000 mah. Its the same lifting capacaty and i am starting to hate this quad. haha :P
Is the power distrubution board to small for the current and voltage?

Here is my settings for now;

/**************************** Motor minthrottle *******************************/
/* Set the minimum throttle command sent to the ESC (Electronic Speed Controller)
This is the minimum value that allow motors to run at a idle speed */
//#define MINTHROTTLE 1300 // for Turnigy Plush ESCs 10A
//#define MINTHROTTLE 1120 // for Super Simple ESCs 10A
//#define MINTHROTTLE 1064 // special ESC (simonk)
//#define MINTHROTTLE 1050 // for brushed ESCs like ladybird
#define MINTHROTTLE 1200 // (*) (**)

/**************************** Motor maxthrottle *******************************/
/* this is the maximum value for the ESCs at full power, this value can be increased up to 2000 */
#define MAXTHROTTLE 2000

/**************************** Mincommand *******************************/
/* this is the value for the ESCs when they are not armed
in some cases, this value must be lowered down to 900 for some specific ESCs, otherwise they failed to initiate */
#define MINCOMMAND 950
