noob PID tuning question.

Post by Andy7 »

Having a tough time PID tuning my quad when I have to rely on 'stolen' moments to play with my toys when there's so much else to so around the house (definitely a single man's sport, this!).

I did another round if P tuning holding the quad. It's REALLY stiff to try to tilt it now and reacts beautifully in all directions. (acro mode).
Now, I noticed that after holding it at an angle for a couple of seconds that it then seems to want to hold in that angled position. Is that RIGHT for acro mode, or is this just something that I'll be able to correct when I set the I and D values?

(did someone turn off sigs? I keep my quad specs in there so I don't need to keep repeating myself)

I term holds quad in angled position and this is a must for acro mode.

Great, thanks. I get it now. Tried flipping to stable mode after I got it to lock to an angle and it righted itself straight away.
So I guess I'm right in thinking that if left in acro mode without PERFECT trim that the quad will ultimately just slowly tip up in one position or another and drift off?
That's the behaviour I'm seeing right now when I fly.

I think I should wait until my MAG arrives becuse it's still YAWing at the moment and it's making it hard for me to tune the pitch and roll.

Correct.

For Yaw---increase I-term and quad will not yaw on his own :)
