Hi,
Just put together my first quad and so far very impressed with the nanowii.
Now that I have the rig all assembled and powered up I'm not able to arm the system to check the rotation of the motors.
When I power up the ESCs do their three rising tones, three short beeps and a long one so I guess they're okay.
The nanowii has a green led, the red one pulses on and off for a while goes off flickers a couple of times while the ESCs do a test then turns off,
If I push the left stick full left to arm, the red led flashes rapidly for a second then goes out. No motors activate.
Any clues as to what's wrong here?
Thanks,
Andy
Unable to arm my nanowii
Re: Unable to arm my nanowii
Okay, so I've finished testing each component and all seems well, except the nanowii won't start up the motors.
Connecting the hk6s directly to each ESC in turn allows me to power up the motors (and set the directions correctly hole I was at it)
So the ESCs, motors and power is good. Oddly, the throttle response was inverted when running directly.
The nanowii does nothing unless the throttle is at zero, and flicking the left stick full left or full down just gets me a flashing led. Looks like a warning error but why?

Re: Unable to arm my nanowii
- calibrated ACC at least once (via gui or stick)?
- which arming stick combo do you have enabled in config.h?
- iirc arming via yaw is yaw-right.

Re: Unable to arm my nanowii
Allow_arm_disarm_via_tx_yaw and ... _roll are both enabled.
Interesting that you say the arm is to the RIGHT there. Some kind of inversion going on there?
I'll look into the calibration next then if I can find out how to do that.

Re: Unable to arm my nanowii
Okay. I ran the ACC calibrate on the GUI. (Presume you need to write values after doing that)
Didn't make a difference, but I notice that when I have the GUI running, and the throttle is at zero position it reads 2029 and 1223 at full up position. If I flip the throttle invert on the hk6s tx then I get what I'd expect to see, ie 1049 at zero position and 2002 full up. BUT if I disconnect and run the nanowii by itself the led only flashes when I try to arm it with the throttle full up... Looks like it inverts.
Very confused now.

Re: Unable to arm my nanowii
Aha! Looks like the end points on the transmitter were out of range. I can't configure the end points on the tx so I tweaked the max range check values in the sw and it arms and disarms nicely!
Got one stuttering motor now, but that's a problem for me to look at in the morning.

Re: Unable to arm my nanowii
I'm having the same problem. I've adjusted my throttle stops on my tx so that the gui indicates 'armed', and 'disarmed'. Easy.
I'm still not getting 'beep' from the motors, nor motor-start. Ideas? Turnigy ESC's,
I'd also like to calibrate the esc's.... Any idea how to do this?

Re: Unable to arm my nanowii
Calibrating the ESCs is really easy - yeah, that might be why your SW is saying armed but the motors aren't spinning up. It's good to do this anyway.
First, TAKE YOUR PROPS OFF... I kid you not if you don't you may lose an eye.
Go to the config.h in the MultiWii source and uncomment the line:
Compile and upload this to your controller and let it run. (I sometimes power down and reboot just to be sure). That will calibrate your ESCS. Sometimes, this can cause the motors to run at full speed for a couple of seconds - which is REALLY bad and scary if you have the props on.
Then comment the line back out, compile and reboot your controller.

Re: Unable to arm my nanowii
Should I expect to see some indication that 'calibration' is going on, after I upload 'ESC_CALIB' to the controller? The last time I did this, I don't think it did anything.. No beeps, not much of anything.
Re: Unable to arm my nanowii
You will here sound from esc's. But just wait 10 sec and then disconnect the battery.
