Hi,
As said before, used the Sparkfun 6DOF IMU which works on 3.3v and also I used the Bob's super simple shield with an arduino pro mini.
I am not sure what actually happens but i dont feel good with it.. some crazy readings,
Actually I think it dosnt change it's readings if i turn the quad or rotate it, or do anything.. what to do sir?

While you have i2c errors you will not get any readings that are of any use, re-check your connections or swop your sda and scl lines, not sure if Bobs board has pull ups on it if it has disable them in the sketch. Readings may be erratic when you first start until you calibrate acc. If you look at the GUI your acc readings are all wrong they should be about zero for roll and pitch and about two hundred for the z but only after calibration, gyro readings will be zero until you move the copter.

I dont know much about those boards but as bill said disable pullups and maybe also try 100khz instead of 400khz in your code --

Yep your right I did look to see if was in the list but I missed it, but it shouldnt make a difference just that unchecking one thing is easier than two.

Actually am not using Bobs 6DOF;
Am using the sparkfun 6DOF https://www.sparkfun.com/products/10121
It is having the same gyro - ITG3200
but...
NOT THE SAME accelerometer. My board is sing ADXL345

I think we need a pic of your board. There should be no problem connecting to those connectors you have used but to use the 3.3v you need to have the 3.3v reg fitted. A pic of you board will really help us to help you.

I see, I think my 3v3 kit got short and smoke came :( and also smell..
I will replace it.
And Arduino pins - A4 and A5 are correctly connected. Is there any way to test that separately.

You could use a multi-meter to check you are getting a voltage at the A4 & 5 pins but I cant remember what it should be. If you had put a pic up I would not need to ask how is your pro mini connected to the shield hard solder or pins and headers.

What was the setup when the magic smoke came out?,
how many volts were you supplying, and what with?
was the imu connected at the time?
have you tried the blink programme on your pro mini since letting magic smoke out?

No I didnt try that, but i think the parts of 3v3 kit were damaged, i checked that thrice or even more times.

Yes, the imu was connected. Actually I never removed the IMU. But after it got smoke, i connected it to computer and it as always showed the signal of connection{ Leds blinking and all... }

I connected/powered the RC battery 7.4v to both Motors & Reciever and they are interconnected with each other( Motors and shield and reciever are Connected)
I hope that is not the reason for smoking of the 3v3 kit parts?

Sorry but I cant tell much from that vid, it needs to be in focus and still, a still photo would be better. How are you supplying power to the shield, is it from one of the esc bec's, or straight from the battery.

The min setup with a shield is pro mini imu and the shield, you will be powering the pro mini and imu via the shield, which would be getting its power from one of the esc's bec or a ubec. To start with remove the pro mini from the shield and power up the shield, then check you get 5v where is says 5v on the link Chris gave you, you should also be able to check you get 3.3v as it comes out of the v reg on the shield to prove its working. If your getting 3.3v then fit your pro mini and look at the GUI to see what you get, if you not getting 3.3 v then you need to replace the v reg or check if you have burnt a trace on the shield. If you've burnt a trace then you can try (at your own risk) to solder a wire to bridge the break or its get a new shield.

Arduino is soldered but for showing shield I removed it.
I think this is the problem, you know, the conducting metal where you solder the pins on arduino is weared of from top.. bottom part is still there, I think i wil have solder arduino pins from bottom :(
One more thing, Do I have to power the system from two ways? I think smoke from the 3v3 capactitor came due to this reason- OF POWERING FROM TWO SIDES/WAYS>

What do you say?

I know that problem.the solder rings of pro mini are very sensitive.just solder pins to it. so you can unplug it for testing.

Been there, done that had to solder wires to the chip to get A4 and A5 to go anywhere, not something I recommend doing its tricky and not much room to play with. If you still have enough solder pad to connect to you could just solder two holes of a pin header to the pro mini and leave the pins in the shield. It would probably make it a unique set up and you wouldnt be able to swop pro minis over with anybody else, unless they had the same set up.

If you havnt got enough solder pad to work with and if you are very good with a soldering iron have lots of magnifying power available you could solder two wires to the A4 and A5 outputs on the AT Mega chip and terminate them in servos terminals and plug them into the pins on the shield. If you do solder wires then hot glue them to the pro mini board so they dont rip the legs off the chip. Double and tripe check that you are soldering to the right legs on the chip if you have to go this route.

Because of all the wires I cant tell what you have connected to what but I'm assuming that you have Gnd 5v and Signal to each to the Rx connectors. You actually only need one 5v to power the Rx but it wont do any harm to leave that as it is.

Your 5v to supply the shield and pro mini will come from one of esc's which connect to 3,9,10 and 11, so remove and tape up the 5v wire on the other three, 5v wire is the centre of the 3 on the servo type connector leaving you just one 5v supply. The remaining 3 connectors will only have gnd and signal wire connected to the shield, you might get away with just the signal wire connected but you could end up with some strange ground issues.

That 5v supply will also go the 3.3v reg on the shield giving you your 3.3v output, if you havnt fried it and let the magic smoke out. If you hook up just one esc you will be able to put power to the shield and check the volts are what they should be where they should be.

Thanks bill, I dont think it is possible for me to solder the atmega chip itself :/ Bit too difficult. But I think you guys helped me figure out the problem, Right? Connection with A4 & A5 is disabled :/ Actually I didnt have the reciever connector cable (servo cable 3pin), So I with a help of a mobile repair shop/science project shop soldered wires and connected that, BUT AFTER READING MORE, I wasted money :/ I just ordered those connectors yesterday. :)

Arduino pro mini isn't cheap here :( It's for around 30$ :(

But, I atually wanted to learn much more... not just play and fly quads. It's good that I faced this problem and am now aware of the problem. :)

Hi,

I created my first FC on my own and programmed the software by myself. But that is only 10% of the job. Building a frame, find parameters, crash repair etc etc. is the main task.

But I like your style, I started the whole thing because I want to learn sopmething and build something on my own!

Hi,
when I started, there was no multiwii etc. Only Mikrokopter, from the given facts of today I would not try to code my own controller again.
Just use multiwii and try to understand the code - enough work todo.

I have not much time left assisting you, I could give a little hinbt every now and then, but I have a wife, a son, a job, and too many hobbies ;-).
