SBUS going nuts

I received an OrangeRX 3 Channel SBUS Receiver today (SBUS supports 14 channels).
When I connect to to RX3 on my CRIUS AIOP 1.1, it usually doesn't show any signal in multiwiiconf (all channels set to 1502 and not moving). When I move the sticks around some, eventually it will react.. by changing all channels totally at random whenever any stick is moved.
The relevant section reads:

I am using an inverter cable. I also tried binding it at 8 channel and as DSM2. The result is the same every time. Any ideas?

Nevermind, I'm an idiot. I had (in my head) numbered the serial plug the other way around, so what I thought is RX3, is in fact RX1.

How well does the orx sbus work? What transmitter do you use?

I'm using a Walkera Devo 7E with deviation firmware. I only had a chance so far to do a brief test and calibration flight in the (very small) garden, thanks to the weather here, but that worked without issues.
