New guy questions

Hey all.
Picked up a quad and a tricopter coming soon. I'm very new to quads and all I have flown are those minis. I absolutely have no idea what's going on and the stuff I've read is like a new language.

My question is that my computer is giving me an error that says drivers are not installed when I connect. On the FC package it says MWC SE V1 firmware 2.0. Do I need to update and how? I also have the 12c GPS along with Bluetooth. Can anybody point me to the right direction? I have been reading everywhere and I do not understand.

When I connect it shows error 43. I tried to install drivers from ardruino ftdi and it says driver is up to date but when I click on it it shows no driver installed. It shows unknown device in device manager.

Install drivers from: http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/VCP.htm for your OS.

Then insert USB. And go ti Device Manager and find this unknown device - right click and manually install drivers.

Thanks for the help. It was a bad USB cable. I have a new problem now.
