Altitude control without Baro

Post by Sirod »

I am hoping someone have the answer for this.

I have just converted a heli |(old TrexPro) to Flybarless using a NanoWii Board.
I must say it is now stable enough for me to turn figure 8s.
The NanoWii does not have a Barometer, the 'ALTI Hold' option is not enabled.

I know some other firmwares utilizes the accelerometer (Z) to stabilize altitude
(not absolute fixed height) but just short term against throttle changes and wind
disturbances. How well they work, I don't do.

Does MultiWii have this capability?

How difficult is this to implement?

I have tried before arducopter altitude hold and it is rock solid. They basically use accelerometer for short term (quick) changes in altitude and correct the result with gps/baro for long term altitude hold.
Worked very well!
