Left rear motor

Post by fillo »

Hi I just built my first multi wii quad X. The left rear motor will not spin until half throttle and then doesn't spin at the same speed as the others. I swapped motors and esc to a good one on the same output with the same results. Is there anything in the sketch that could cause this? It will fly in angle mode but drifts a lot and needs lots of yaw. Hobby king will replace the board but that's a hassle. Any suggestions?

Did you properly calibrate the ESCs? Which method?
Was the copter level ( checked with a bubble level) when doing the ACC cal?
If you did then next thing to try is:

Load and run the clear_EEPROM arduino sketch and then re-load the MultiWii code.
If this does help then very possible the board is bad.

Hi waltr, thanks for the reply. All good now, once i calibrated the esc's and acc. I'm now doing acc trim for sideways and forward drift. I assume that if I recall the acc or change the quad that I'll need to re do the acc trim? Also the acc trim only seems to affect the quad in level mode, is this normal? Cheers and happy Christmas

Yep, the Accelerometer is only used in the auto-level flight modes.
Acro mode in Gryo only, also called Rate mode.

Good you got it flying.
