LAND mode

I'm trying to do a autoland using the LAND mode in 2.4, but so far I haven't had any success. My tricopter doesn't seem to respond when LAND mode is enabled and EZGUI doesn't indicate it is in land mode. I'm using a multiwii pro with GPS and all the other GPS and baro functions work as expected. I've tried switching on LAND in conjunction with GPS hold, RTH, alt hold. I've yet to try MISSION mode.

Any ideas on why this is? Where is the explaination on LAND mode?

Thanks for the insight. I wonder why LAND is and mode option in the aux channel setup but does not actually work as a selectable mode? It would be nice to simply use the aux switches to enable LAND mode so that I can test the landing function prior to using it in a mission.
