I came across this when reading a Chinese MR forum... the person claims mwc was setup to control over wifi with ios.... he did not give any further information.. I doubt it might be fake.. but just feel like to ask here to confirm.
judging from the pic.... the ios control app is similar to ar.drone control. the MR is default hovering at all time.(i thought mwc do not have this mode yet?) 2 aux channels....

in general there is way for such a solutions.
The serial protokoll (the same fpr the GUI) support RC commands.
You need a board with WLAN support. I see some addons for arduino.
Now you must have a application on this board, best is an web application, because than you don't need a iPhone solution.
And it works for every device
But when you ever play with the "Parrot Drone" you stop thinking about this

one of curious is .... mwc do not have a "no throttle input = hovering" feature... yet?!
