Motor noise/click sound, only when using Multiwii
Motor noise/click sound, only when using Multiwii
I have a hexa with Turnigy Plush 30A and Avroto 2814/11S. The motors and ESC's run nice when connected directly to receiver, but when running them with Multiwii 1.9 there is noise/clicks, like timing problems. I have tried setting ESC timimng to medium but it did not seem to help. What should I do?

I tried setting timing high now. It does not seem to make much difference.
Re: Motor noise/click sound, only when using Multiwii
OK - it solved my clicking on my Turnigy 18A Plush...
Next is to reflash the ESC's (see thread here in forum)

Ok.. So no chance to just edit something in Multiwii code or anything like that? Reflashing looks much too time concuming. I think I'l rather move on to another controller or esc's then.

Try with a different motor to begin with
I use KDE 22-20L

Ok. Those motors are not exactly in the same range as the Avroto motors. http://montorc.com/M2814Shaft.aspx
Probably a stupid thing to do, but I only tested a motor on idle with no load. When mounting a prop it calmed down. Will test more tomorrow. Thanks!

Just a little sidebar here, I strongly believe as long as the usage of a 3S battery is used with NI-xx setting on some ESCs, everything works find. BUT In my situation, I cooked, Destroyed, Mutilated three ESCs using the NI-xx setting with a 4S battery. Took me awhile to figure that one out. I believe it is better to use Li-Po and just do a better job at monitoring battery voltage.

That clicking is due to the 8KHz PWM of most ESCs. There are two options, Reflash them or find an ESC with a higher PWM Rate. There are some around, just have to look hard.
Here is one for example with a higher PWM rate. (Frequency: 8KHz/16KHz)
