Startup of motors

Post by jensn »

Hi,

I am new to multiwii.

I bought the MultiWii Pro with GPS from Hobbyking and four 30A ESC with SimonK code.

After calibrating the ESC's (wuth the code segment in "output.h" if have the following problem:

- When I disarm the copter the motors are not starting
- when I give a little bit trottle the motors starts very strong, so that the copter tries to start already.

Do I have a problem with the calibrating or which settings influence this.
If would prefer to calibarte with the code instead of do it manually, because I cant really access the pins of the ESC any more :-)

I use the code Version 2.2

M setup:
Board: http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/stor ... duct=42106
ESC: http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/stor ... duct=39708
Motor: http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/stor ... duct=44297
3S Lipo

I like calibrating ESCs directly from the receiver's throttle channel rather than through the FC.

which flight mode is the FC in? Try Acro (no other mode enabled).

Hi,

where can I set the flight mode? Do you mean, I should set acro Flight mode to calibrate with the FC?

The flight modes can be seen in the MultiWii Config program. Typical minimum are ANGLE and HORIZON and ACRO when none are enabled (GREEN background).
Don't get confused with calibration verse tuning verse trimming. these are three different operations.
The Accelerometer and magnetometer (if on the FC) are calibrated from the multiwii config program. The Gryo gets calibrated every time the FC board is powered op and boots (the board MUST be MOTIONLESS during this calibration).

Trimming is first done on the transmitter while in ACRO mode. Then in ANGLE (auto level) mode is trimmed using the ACC Trim stick commands.
Tuning is the adjustment of the PIDs and the other settings in multiwii config. This can include RC rates & Expos, Throttle curve, and some others.
Start with the default PIDs and other settings.

Here is a fairly good tutorial on getting started with MultiWii:
