I am building a smaller quad for more aggressive fun, but im having an unusual problem. 1 ESC is dropping off when i connect to 3s it will arm but the moment i give it throttle it quits. I have verified its the speed controller, not the motor.
they are HK 8-10amp ESCs, the others work fine and all were bought together.
if i use 2s battery it flies, the one ESC seems dodgey, but it flies.
im going to replace the ESC, but im curious, whats up with it? is this familiar, and fixable?

Hi,
I think you have a broken FET in one of the 3 H-bridges or a dead fet control circuite. Seems it´s running on 2 phases and triggers current/voltage limit when powered on 3s. Can you compare the idle/50%/100% throttle current at 2s for the dodgey and a good one? (if you have basic electronic knowledge you could also build a voltage divider and look at the phases signals via soundcard line/mic in).
