Spectrum satelite (gear channel)

I would like to implement a Spectrum satelite reciever with a Mega 2560 so I have access to all channels.
I was wondering if you can reuse the gear channel (ch5) to be used for aux4?
This will allow me to switch on some leds or anything else via aux4 (after assigning it via the GUI).

Any thoughts are welcome.

Made a mistake.
I meant to map aux3 knob on the DX8 to be used with the AUX4.

b)
maybe do it in the TX:
in dx6i style one could set a mix as aux4 -> aux4, asign to aux3 switch/knob
