Diatone 230 mm frame poor YAW response

Post by Bravenius »

Hi all:

I've built a 230 mm quad based on Diatone fixed arm frame. Used 2300KV 18 size motors with 5x3 props. The quad showed heavy to fly and maneuverability was not good. After tweaking the FC (whitespy Flip 1.5) it flies marginally better, but battery is sucked rapidly too. Used a 1800 mA 3S for more endurance, but make the copter even more heavy.

Changed props to 3 blade 5x3 and lift improved a lot, but maneuverability kept not good, one that is very bad is Rudder performance where at full stick goes very slow and turning is very limited.

Any ideas? Can the props be the root cause (I.e. To small or angular momentum small for the frame?). I hate to abandon this project due to physics.

Thanks

Increase Yaw rate to 50 or more.

Thanks. It worked a bit, still rather slow yet. Try to go further without crashing.
