Centerplate Template Quadcopter

Post by Noctaro »

Hey,
if you are like me continously testing new frame designs, you maybe would like to test this centerplate template for a QuadX i created using Qcad.

Most of my frames are based on wood centerplates. I like to print out a template, glue it on some woodplate (i use 3mm layered wood) and have a nice reference for working.
Of course you may do this, with every material you prefer. Its designed to use with 1cm alu arms. Best performance if you do some sandwitch construction (print baseplate 2x), like i mentioned here -> http://www.multiwii.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=593#p3931
The goal was to create a leightweight and robust base for my copter.

Hope anyone finds this helpful. Give me some feedback if you like it.

The holes are placed to fit a ParisBoard.
(If you need other distance for board mounting, feel free to ask, i will create a template for you.)
The basplate is quite stable if using the right material. My copter (woodplate) already took 2 crashes without damage to mention.

I will add some photos of my copter later. (->http://www.quadrocopter.at/fotos/anti-vibration.JPG (i know you can´t see the whole design and its not very clean built [thats development ] , just to get an idea of it. Will upload better pictures. I may also create a photosession of assembling, if anyone is intrested.)

hello,

here is another template for a quad , the main constraints for me are :

- allow crash without immediate breaking
- big crash must cause minimal repair

in case of a big crash arms are here to bend and standard m4 screw are easy to replace

in case of a small crash , nothing serious will happen, motor shaft and battery are the most exposed parts , but nothing unusual

the arms are linked together with two custom carbon/vectran 1.2 mm plate (yello parts) , motors use bullet connectors .. this way changing a motor or a complete arm can be done very quickly on the field. top plate and battery plate are 0.8mm carbon and are only linked with four screw and carbon spacer to the rest of the frame .

as seen on the photo , the arm are here to bend
