tested with that line uncommented and it still was unflyable. tried that as well as the next one up and it was unflyable. works great at 42khz even with the default pids. dialed them in a bit and have it flying pretty good.

i have both the flysky th6 (same as hk 6ch v1) and the flysky 9ch v2 *same as t9x). both are very good radios.

if there was a way to set the PID's so that when you went full throttle all motors would goto MAXTHROTTLE and stay there that'd be cool. I havn't found a way to do that yet (maybe if you 0 all the pid settings?) because when you go full throttle they get close to 1850 then move around a bit or slowl...

Another observation (full throttle): With PID's properly set and holding quad firmly on the ground (soft carpet) I can see engine commands jumping between 1800 and 2000 (more time closer to 2000), when I'm holding quad in my arm those values are moving between 1300 (MINTHROTTLE) and 2000 (MAXTHROTT...

fyi - with eosbandits code changes it flew great with the inertia 1. level mode works great. mag mode works. flew pretty well with all default. and this is a quad with 18" arms thats a bit of a pig. thanks alex!

interesting cause im running the same setup. i beleive the cap is to limit any voltage drop from servos. is this a quad? can you share you pid settings?

since your just starting maybe go with a cheapy. you can get the flysky 6 channel for about $50 or the flysky 8 channel for around $70. both are good readios and come with an RX.

i got it working with ITG3200 defined only somewhat in 1.7. its very twitchey. can only hover for 10 seconds. what kinda pid settings are you guys using iwth this board?

im not convinced that its not a problem with the esc's. Im testing a new paris v4 board with an atmel inertia 1. i use a seperate BEC to power the board. I've cut the 5v lines from all the esc's. maybe they need that to operate. in order to calibrate, i power the board via usb, activate the controll...

thanks pat. im now running the same power plant in a different layout. its still a quadx with 18" arms. its pretty big. i was overloading it before causing it to bog and to fall when the batteries were getting low. with my current setup i can run for about 10 minutes on a 3000mah battery or 6+ ...

got this working with the dev code last night.
the config is super smooth with this board compare to my wmp/adxl 345. The sensor readings, the gui everything seems to be super stable and smooth. Im seeing 3000 cycle times.
can't wait to put this thing in the air. awesome!

just got mine in the mail today. debating on waiting until 1.8 goes gold or to try a dev version. I'd prefer to just use the boards headers but i see others have soldered directly to the board.

A suggestion on the failsafe code - once signal is lost, after the heli lands, can you blip the motors? This way you can find your copter if it comes down out in the woods by hearing.

but you could continue to use the mwii if you just connect the appropriate channels to the ESC / servos for fixed wind and just shut the motors off. when hovering just leave the servo's connected and active.

that looks awesome!!! not sure about the coding, but I think if I were to try this I would to it all through radio programming. take off and land using the triwii as normal. When you want to transition to plane mode, just use some servos that tilt the front 2 rotors down that. fly the plane normally...

I found that it will almost drop outta the air if I hit the yaw too much. Gotta get that figured out and do a small bit of PID tuning before I setup stable mode.
