It can be a faulty mag calibration!

You can check in the gui. First, check the 4 major directions, then try to turn the copter aroung roll/pitch by 20-30 degrees and watch the gui. The direction must not change!

I have one question. Are you still using bluetooth only ofr Android communication? My first tests with HM-TRP modules (same as in the 3DR) were successful, I got extended range.
