Have a magnifying glass at hand.
Good equipment always counts. I invested in a new small Weller soldering station with a fine tip.
I cut the two lines not with a knife (could slip ...), but with my Dremel and a very fine tip.
Glad, I could help ....

Re: Problems after misconnecting the FTDI
I would suggest: 1. Do a loop back test with your FTDI, to insure, that the FTDI is still OK- Bridge RX - TX on the FTDI and do a test in a terminal window. On my machine that looks like this 114.jpg What is send, is instantly returned. Both LED on FTDI blink. 2. If FTDI is OK, get a new FC board 3....

Turn your nano around. On the backside there is the FTDI chip. Take a standard usb cable and solder the 4 wires to GND, VCC and USBDM and USBDP.

Working with multiwii is is always a good idea to have a standard arduino (like UNO etc.) around to directly check those sensors.
You can find sketches for the sensors in the web.
MAG -> https://www.loveelectronics.co.uk/Tutor ... no-library
Then you know, it is not the sensor but the software.

For testing the MAG, take your Duemilanove,
and connect the MAG sensor.
Here you find a small sketch.

You have to install the HMC library first.
