I have always wanted to see how bad the lag was with a dial-in serial connection to fly.

Re: MultiWii ESC values for motor are off
I bought a servo tester off ebay that had 6 3pin connectors in parallel, great for testing all 4 motors and configuring them the same.
Only problem is its range isn't as large as it should be.

Wow, I had one of those switches years ago ripped out of something random. Good idea to put the trimpots on and use it for a 6 pos switch though. I have a cheap 6ch TX and it sucks. Tommies Funkenschlag code for the AVR replaces the chip inside with a better solution and includes the data transfer mechanism. +1 for building it with Ice cream sticks. You could make it more stable by having it shorter with control surfaces near the prop. Most RX have a signal LED, could we take a wire off that to an input pin on the Flight controller to tell it when its got signal?
Then we would have a sane way to detect RX loss on all receivers (that have a LED).

If it's a copy of one that gets updated firmware then that at least is one thing!
Mind you, for that price I am tempted to run the open source OSD stuff on it, there are several based on atmel and that max chip, so I imagine it should be possible to find FW that runs on that hardware.

Seems cheap, but wtf ? 1.9.2? Does it use telemetry mode, or GUI data?
Is it compatible with 2.0 serial? 2.1? Are there updates?
Is the code available?
It's money wasted if it doesn't get updated or work with latest versions. Open code?

I think having a compile time option, ifdef forcegui = send all data all the time would be great, sounds like it would solve my needs and that of the OSD developer in question. I second this request. In fact I would like it as a simple compile time option to force GUI data out. The unused parts shouldn't contribute to code size, so unused for multicopter parts don't hurt multicopters.
It does get a bit messy in the code with lots of odd stuff you don't need, but better that than 10 versions, one for each kind of device.

i2c is probably there somewhere, I have the same issue with my quad.
You would have to find the i2c bus, probably best to tap onto the end of the pullup resistors. If you have a schematic for the board not so hard. If you have a scope, not so hard.
If you have neither. good luck!
