GPS Hold spirals...
Been searching for answers here on the forum.. I've been flying my Naze 32 for a year or so now. Position hold works semi well most of the time, but moves in circles around an invisible point 5 feet above the quad. On occasion, even with great Sat reception and good lock, it will start to spiral out...

Re: Can't seem to do flips in Horizon mode?
Yeah, I think over the last year or so, I might have 5 minutes of actual position hold time accrued. My only reason for ever pursuing it was for a safety net if I got out of sight, or had a signal dropout while flying FPV.
I might just ditch it.
Thanks for the input!

Re: Can't seem to do flips in Horizon mode?
So I settled on a .65 setting.
Now though, it seems that my GPS Hold is suffering. I don't know if it's possible, can the Roll/Pitch Rate have any effect on GPS Hold function? It may be totally unrelated. It will hold position for a second or so, then start an outward spiral growing ever larger.

Re: Can't seem to do flips in Horizon mode?
Please understand that I didn't think that you suggested a setting of 1. You were right about the multiple loops per second. Part of me thought that had to be an exaggeration... (it is not). In my brain, if half a beer is good, then a whole beer is immensely better. Anyway, I'm back up flying, so no...

Re: Can't seem to do flips in Horizon mode?
Well, I backed it down to .50 to start. The flips were slow, and it would lose about 15 to 20 feet of altitude each time. I then taught myself a valuable lesson. Rather than slowly increasing the rate, I jumped it to 1.00. Heck, if I can control the first slow one, how much faster can it be? It's a ...

Re: Can't seem to do flips in Horizon mode?
I know the answer is probably subjective, but where's a good place to start on that rate? I've set it to .75, but honestly, I'm scared. Haha. I wasn't sure if I should go straight to 1, which you mentioned, or edge up slowly. Honestly, I kinda think that I can probably handle the flip, it's the quad...

Can't seem to do flips in Horizon mode?
I was thinking that when I switched from Angle to Horizon mode that I'd be able to start flipping my quad. I've been flying my Blade 180 qx in Acro mode for a while now and have gotten comfortable flipping it, but when I wanted to start trying to flip my big quad, I can't. Now, with my small quad, I...

Re: Harakiri aka multiwii port to stm32
@Crash: You are awesome. I'm making some pretty big changes on my quad right now. I got new booms, but am adding a bit (lot) of dihedral. Supposedly it aids stability and makes the quad a bit more efficient in forward flight. We'll see. Thanks for looking into the code for the Yaw issue. That means ...

Re: Harakiri aka multiwii port to stm32
I think there may be something else going on here. I added weight to the rear (in the form of an extra 3s), which obviously requires more throttle to hover, but the yaw is still acting strange. The motor status looks better, but still not even. I'll check in the Flite Test forum and see if anyone el...

Re: Harakiri aka multiwii port to stm32
Ok, I'll try removing the gimbal and going back to my original setup. I haven't been overly happy with the gimbal setup anyway. I have my battery as far to the rear as I can get it, with the original battery tray/camera mount reversed, but I thought that to some extent the FC would correct for diffe...

I checked the motors just a bit ago. None seem to have any more drag than the rest. Hmmm.

Re: Harakiri aka multiwii port to stm32
Hmm. Ok, that sheds some light on this. Here is another angle of the quad from my last FC setup. While the GPS was mounted, it wasn't operational at the time. http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i13/litneon/0B5A5032-EF25-49F5-A470-7F7F512EB490.jpg All the arms are the same length, but the addition of ...

Re: Harakiri aka multiwii port to stm32
Wow. Great information, thanks! I'll let you know what I find. I know my stick center is at 1500, my yaw PID's are 5.0,0.040, and 30. I've tried every combination of the three that I could which was making me wonder if I was barking up the wrong tree. I'll do some searching on the mixer and my rotat...

Re: Harakiri aka multiwii port to stm32
Not sure I'm in the right place for this issue, but here goes... I've been running Harakiri for some time now. Don't have any big issues with it, except one. (Two, maybe...) Yaw: when I drop the stick, whether rotating clockwise or counterclockwise, it always stops movement and rotates clockwise jus...

Re: Harakiri aka multiwii port to stm32
I could try that if it continues to be an issue, but if the Nav tilt is in degrees (as in 30 degrees max), there's no way that I was tilted that far. I need to do some more testing and research.

Re: Harakiri aka multiwii port to stm32
Your motors and GPS look a lot like SimonK ESC's.... I would check for interference with the Mag and make sure that your GPS lock is good. I get a bit of drift during PH in gusty winds, and my altitude hold isn't 100% just yet, but other than that, it's pretty good out of the box. The altitude hold ...

Re: Harakiri aka multiwii port to stm32
This may not be the place to ask the question, but being that I'm using Harakiri, here goes... Now that everything seems to be working properly, when I engage PH and let go of the sticks, the altitude seems to drop until I get close to the ground, at which point I add throttle and get it to maintain...

Re: Harakiri aka multiwii port to stm32
I just flashed my quad a couple days ago. I actually didn't try to fly on the default values. I instead jumped to the PID values and other set points that pjman had posted above as a copy from the previous page. I shouldn't have. It flew very poorly on my setup. Too touchy, and the Horizon mode perf...

Re: Harakiri aka multiwii port to stm32
Just out of curiosity, originally Crash indicated that GUI 2.3 would work with Harakiri. Did that change? Or was it stated by mistake? I've tried, only because I was curious, but no luck.... Back to 2.2.
Also, is the easiest way to revert to the default PID's just to reflash the board?

Re: Flip 1.5 with GPS setup?
It seems to fly well. The Baro that I added through the i2c bus leaves a little to be desired. I started with the Blade 180, just to learn, and didn't want to dump a lot of money right off the bat before I decided whether or not it's something I want to pursue more as a hobby. I've been into racing ...

Flip 1.5 with GPS setup?
Hey guys! I'm new here, and to arduino and multirotors in general. I bought the Flip 1.5 from WhiteSpy recently to build my first quad. I contacted Paul at WhiteSpy a few times and in our correspondence, he said that the 1.5 was GPS capable. I've tried everything I can think of, from triple checking...
