I guess that if all you want to do with your copter is flip it around, then who needs those f***ing LEDS ? ... but if you want to activate different flight modes (Baro, GPS RTH, GPS Hold, etc . - for example if you want to do FPV) then the LED ring starts making a lot more sense.
