Re: Sparkfun Razor 6DOF and Duemilanove
Well wapko, I'm pretty satisfied with the 6dof itself, but it's not very good for MW... Although I still use it (the acc), if I were to build another *copter, I would use I2C sensors only... I have the acc working, you can use the "standard" ADCACC code with a new value for acc_1g (somethi...

Pre-flight check/prep
Haven't been able to find a good list of pre-flight steps... Could someone please explain which steps should be carried out before flying?? What needs to be done once (only once, or every now and then), and what should be done before each flight? I'm thinking about calibration etc, not PID tuning......

And thanks Lapino!
I actually cut the frame before you answered, and they're 45 cm motor to CG... Should be a good start (I can shorten them if needed in the future)...

Re: Redirect old URLs to the new forum URLs
Common problem, when you move from a public hosted to a private solution... Personally I don't think it's much of an issue, but I'll throw in two different suggestions: Since you have access to the DB on this new forum, one way would be to simply create a script which will search/replace "wbb.m...

Well, not that I'm an expert, I'm a beginner myself, but I'd suggest you start by taking some high-res detailed photos of your board and soldering so that people may have a look and determine if everything looks alright.

Tricopter size???!
Help My new frame is now partially assembled, but so far the arm length is ~75cm (~30"), waiting to be cut... I have been trying to read as much as possible online, but almost all threads talk about quad, very few cover tri's... So, how big should my (newbie) tri frame be? It's square CF tubes,...

Re: Improving Altitude Hold Performance
Only because I have one , I'll throw in: How about mounting an ultrasonic range sensor, faced down, and mixing with? Should be good up to at least 7-10 meters, depending on sensor (possibly even more)... Of course it makes the terrain a new factor, but maybe it also makes it possible to fly e.g. 1m ...

Carbon fiber Tri frame
Hi, Just started building my carbon fiber frame, I will upload pictures eventually... Right now I can't decide on how to attach the booms to the center body. The booms (10mm square carbon fiber tubes) will be attached between two 1mm carbon fiber plates... I know I could just use epoxi, and any addi...

Re: Double check my wiring
Bump Would very much appriciate some feedback on my last post... Got my last parts from HK and ELFA today (feels like christmas ) so I'll start assembling soon... Re: Double check my wiring
Ok so I've thought some more about this... #1, the FAQ states it should be fine to power the WM+ with 5v as it has a built-in regulator. #2, the FAQ states the WM+ should be the only sensor which may be required to reset through pin 12. So, my new thoughts are, and I wonder if this is a better/worse...

Re: Double check my wiring
Ahh, thank you as well mr.rc-cam! Now I understand it better... Regarding the current draw, can anyone tell me the (approx) peak current draw of a WM+? That would be very helpful, as I don't have a working amp-meter at the moment... The rest of the circuit (all sensors except WM+) should have a peak...

Helps alot, thank you Patrik!
Turns out pretty much as I expected, but I wanted to be 100% sure...
I didn't think of the Baro being sensitive to wind, lucky I haven't started assemble the tri yet...
Is keeping it away from prop thrust enough, or should I shield it in some way??

Re: Double check my wiring
Thanks Alex! But I must ask, are you sure the LLC is optional?? The Arduino itself is 5v, and all sensors 3v3... I risk frying my sensors if I connect I2C directly (as the Arduino uses 5v logic)... Or? Does it hurt to have the LLC? I don't want to risk seeing magic smoke... If I keep the LLC, should...

Hi, I just wanted to hear if sensor placement has any significance. I don't have any board like the PARIS, just a bunch of BoB's... Re: Sensor values
290 - -1g 425 - +1g Ok, I think I understand it New day, new brain Full range from +1g to -1g is 425-290 = 135 To center 0g at 0 in MWC, divide by 2 (=67,5) giving -1g = -67,5 and 1g = 67,5, thus 0g = 0 As I see it, my biggest mistake was assuming 290 represented 0g. Didn't know it was -1g. Think I...

Just reverted back to original ADCACC code, though setting acc_1g to 68 as proposed in this thread: http://www.multiwii.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=561 Worked perfectly, I'd suggest you read the thread... It turned into a "acc_1g for Z axis on ADXL335"-thread Well, the axis' seems in...

Well ziss_dm and Alex, you're both saying the same thing, so I don't mean to argue, you know this better than I do... I'm just hoping to understand But I thought, when lying flat (i.e. 0/360 deg, no rotation around either X nor Y), the Z axis experienced 1g, and when upside down (i.e. 180 deg), 0g. ...

The rest of application uses acc_1G as a reference of the resolution. Ah, why didn't I think of that, makes sense... This is strange, could you please describe what was wrong? Re: Sensor values
Well, it answers some questions, such as values being signed 16bit, i.e. -32767 to +32768. Calibration is also clear, measuring the zero point through averaging 400 readings (think I saw this in the code somewhere)... But how can the program account for different ranges and resolution for accADC??? ...

Sensor values
In the code I've seen that the common function calls after reading ACC and GYRO values are ACC_ORIENTATION(X, Y, Z) and GYRO_ORIENTATION(X, Y, Z). Just tested your code... Seems to be working good... One question though, are you using this with or without 3.3v AREF?? I tested without AREF, which seems to be working (resolution is so-so)...
